"Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord" (James 5:14).
The Anointing of the Sick is the Sacrament that is received by those who are ill or suffering. By the sacred anointing and the prayer of the priest, the whole Church commends those who are sick to Christ. The sick person receives the Holy Spirit’s gifts of strength, faith, peace and courage, and his or her suffering is united with the suffering of Christ for the building up of the Church (Catechism of the Catholic Church nos.1520-23).
The Sacrament is traditionally administered on the first Monday of the month immediately after the 6:00 p.m. Mass or, by appointment with a priest at any time. All who are sick or suffering are invited to receive anointing.
For after-hour emergencies, please call the parish office at 770-394-3896 and follow the prompts to contact a priest. (Please select option 1.)
