The funeral ministry is a group of dedicated volunteers who provide assitance to families at the time of death of a loved one. We help the family deal iwth the arrangements for a funeral Mass or memorial service. On the day of the funeral, volunteers help with tasks such as: making sure the church is ready for the Mass, greeting those attending and handing out programs. In addition, we work with the Helping Hands ministry to provide receptions. After the funeral, volunteers follow up with phone calls and cards to the family to let them know that they have not been forgotten. Each year on All Souls Day in November, we have a memorial service to remember those who died during the past year. We also periodically organize grief workshops and financial planning seminars to help with estate planning. No training is necessary; the most important gift you bring to this ministry is a compassionate heart.
